Ali Taghipour, head of the Mazandaran Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, told Khabaronline on Friday, August 7, 2026, that the province has repatriated an average of 77 percent of its export foreign currency earnings, a relatively strong standing compared with many other Iranian provinces. He said the province's exporters carry total outstanding foreign currency obligations of about 1.6 billion euros, of which roughly 367 million euros remains unresolved. Of that 367 million euros, about 139 million euros is held by just eight exporters, Taghipour said. He called current currency repatriation requirements overly strict and urged regulatory reform to remove administrative obstacles for genuine exporters.
