Mehr News Agency, citing Iran's Ministry of Energy, reported on Wednesday 7 Mordad 1405 (29 July 2026) that the Iran Power Plant Repairs Company returned more than 3,500 megawatts of generation capacity to the national grid ahead of the peak consumption season, by carrying out 38 dynamic balancing and overspeed test projects on turbine and generator rotors.
The projects were carried out at the Shahid Rajaee Qazvin, Shazand Arak, Tabriz, Jahrom, Bandar Abbas, Loushan, Abadan, Ramin Ahvaz and Mobin Assaluyeh power plants. Mohammad Bagher Lotfi, the company's chief executive, said its international rotating equipment balancing centre provides services covering more than 3,507 megawatts and can perform dynamic and overspeed operations on equipment weighing up to 85 tonnes.
Lotfi also said the company has provided engineering services covering close to 20,000 megawatts under the national generator readiness and repair programme, equal to 21 percent of that field. Electricity shortfalls during the hot months are one of the constraints on output at Iran's energy intensive industries, including steel, cement and petrochemicals.
