Oman's Foreign Ministry summoned the ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mousa Farhang, on Sunday, July 12, 2026, and handed him a formal letter of protest over drone strikes on areas in the Musandam and Al Wusta governorates.
According to Muscat Daily, Khalid bin Hashel al Musalhi, Undersecretary for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the Foreign Ministry, expressed the Sultanate's strong dissatisfaction and stressed the need to uphold the principles of state sovereignty and good neighborliness.
Oman has been one of the main mediators working to contain the US-Iran conflict and preserve maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz, and the summons could weigh on the ongoing talks over the strait.
