Iran fires missiles and drones at Persian Gulf states and Jordan; three missiles land in Jordan and three injured in Qatar

Early on Sunday, July 12, 2026, Iran launched a wave of simultaneous missile and drone attacks toward Persian Gulf states, including Qatar, the UAE, Bahrain and Kuwait, and claimed attacks on Jordan and Oman as well. The strikes came after a fresh round of US airstrikes on Iran and in response to Saturday night's attack on a container ship in the Strait of Hormuz.
According to reports, three missiles fired from Iranian territory landed at several locations in Jordan early Sunday, causing no casualties according to Jordanian officials. In Qatar, the Interior Ministry said three people, including one child, were injured by falling shrapnel. Persian Gulf states activated their air defence systems. The escalation has raised regional risk and weighs on oil and currency markets.
