According to a statement from the Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesperson, he will meet senior Pakistani officials, including Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, about developing bilateral ties and "following up the latest diplomatic efforts on regional issues". The eighth session of the Pakistan-Oman Joint Ministerial Commission will also be held in Islamabad during the visit.
EcoIran recalls that Pakistan had earlier backed Oman's talks on the Strait of Hormuz, during Tehran-Muscat consultations on the strait. The report does not state the specific agenda for the talks or any Iran-US dimension; the outcome of the meetings will have to be followed once the visit ends.
