27 August 2026 | 2 months ago
Andrabi, the spokesperson for Pakistan's Foreign Ministry, said on Thursday, Shahrivar 5, 1405 (August 27, 2026), according to Donya-e-Eqtesad, that Pakistan does not recognize unilateral sanctions on Iran under international law, and that such sanctions carry negative consequences. They said Islamabad, with firm resolve, will continue trade with Iran under their bilateral agreements, and that the economic war against Iran is part of the deadlock between Tehran and Washington, which must be resolved through diplomacy and dialogue.
Responding to media speculation, the spokesperson also denied that Field Marshal Asim Munir, Pakistan's army chief, had visited Tehran recently as a representative of the US president, describing the trip instead as part of bilateral relations and regional peace diplomacy. On the Strait of Hormuz, they said resolving the matter depends on the course of negotiations between Iran and the United States.
