Qatar Enters Global Debt Market With 3 Billion Dollar International Bond Sale

According to Bloomberg, cited by Donya-e-Eqtesad, Qatar sold 3 billion dollars of international bonds on Monday, September 21, 2026, its first international public bond sale since last November, across 5 and 10 year maturities. Peak order books topped 7.7 billion dollars before settling above 6.8 billion dollars. Final yields were set at 55 and 65 basis points over US Treasuries for the 5 and 10 year tranches respectively, about 30 basis points tighter than initial guidance. Official Qatari finance ministry data show the country's oil and gas revenue, which stood at 9 billion dollars in the first quarter, plunged to just 200 million dollars in the second quarter. According to JPMorgan, Qatar posted a second quarter budget deficit of 5.8 billion dollars, equal to 11.4 percent of quarterly GDP, its largest quarterly deficit on record. S&P has kept Qatar's credit rating at AA.
