Energy Minister: Wartime Attacks Hit Over 2,000 Water and Power Infrastructure Points
22 September 2026 · 15 days ago
Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi told Iran's parliament on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, in response to a lawmaker's question about the country's power shortfall and water scarcity, that attacks on water and power infrastructure during the recent war struck more than 2,000 points, knocking 4,200 megawatts of generation capacity offline. He said 14 power industry specialists were killed in the attacks. Aliabadi said the ministry had planned to cut the power shortfall to its lowest level in a decade this year, but the damage from the attacks set that plan back.
