Qatar says a child was wounded by shrapnel from an intercepted Iranian missile attack
18 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Qatar's Interior Ministry said a child was wounded on Friday, July 17, by shrapnel from an Iranian missile attack that its army intercepted over Doha, and is receiving medical care. Residents of Doha reported hearing several explosions, and security alerts were sent to mobile phones.
Qatar, which hosts the largest US military base in the region and is a mediator in talks with Washington alongside Pakistan, was struck during the latest wave of Iranian attacks on states hosting American forces. The continued attacks on Persian Gulf countries have kept the war risk premium in oil and shipping insurance elevated.
