Alexey Likhachev, CEO of Russia's Rosatom, said on Sunday, 18 Mordad 1405 (August 9, 2026) that Russian specialists are returning to the Bushehr nuclear power plant and that their total number has now reached 25. According to Sputnik, as carried by Donya-e-Eqtesad, he said the first five of these specialists are already working at the Bushehr plant and that the number will rise to 100 by this autumn.
Likhachev added that construction of Bushehr's units 2 and 3 is continuing. Bushehr is Iran's only operating nuclear power plant, located on the Persian Gulf coast; earlier Al Jazeera reporting said some of its auxiliary facilities were damaged in US strikes during the recent war.
