Russia resumes drone attacks on Kyiv after a three day pause
8 September 2026 | last month
Ukraine's state emergency service said late Monday, September 7, 2026 (16 Shahrivar 1405), that Russia had resumed its attacks on the Ukrainian capital after a three day pause. According to Ecoiran, citing IRNA and Agence France Presse, Kyiv's military administration issued an air raid warning over the threat of a drone attack and urged residents to take shelter, while the emergency service said on Telegram that Russian forces had targeted the Boryspil and Fastiv areas with drones.
Russian President Vladimir Putin had ordered the three day pause in strikes on Kyiv during a weekend visit to Moscow and Kyiv by US President Donald Trump's envoys, Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner, on Saturday and Sunday. The resumption of attacks comes as the Kremlin had earlier said it does not rule out resuming trilateral talks with the United States and Ukraine.
