Russian oil production climbs above 9 million barrels a day in July

7 August 2026 | 2 months ago

According to OilPrice.com on August 6, 2026 (15 Mordad 1405), citing two industry sources who spoke to Reuters, Russia's crude and condensate output rose by roughly 100,000 barrels per day from June to July, climbing above 9 million barrels a day. Stronger exports and a partial recovery in refinery throughput after damage earlier this year drove the increase. OPEC had earlier estimated Russian production at 8.928 million barrels a day in June, down 61,000 bpd from May and below the 2025 full year average of 9.129 million bpd. Russia has not published official oil production figures for years.

OilPrice.com reported that Ukrainian drone attacks intensified in late July and early August, forcing several refineries to suspend operations, including a fire on Thursday at a refinery in Russia's Yaroslavl region following another drone strike. Russia plans to increase crude exports from its western ports by 4 percent in August, but that depends on available tanker and loading capacity in the Black Sea, which is currently reported to be tight.
