Russia's Ambassador to India: Moscow Will Keep Selling Oil to India
8 September 2026 · 29 days ago
Denis Alipov, Russia's ambassador to India, said in an interview with Asian News International (ANI), reported by Oilprice.com on Sunday, September 7, 2026 (15 Shahrivar 1405), that Russia will remain India's biggest oil supplier and is ready to supply as much oil as India needs. He criticized pending legislation in the US Congress that would give the US president authority to impose 100 percent tariffs on the largest buyers of Russian oil and gas; the bill passed the Senate 86 to 11 but faces disagreement in the House of Representatives, and analysts say it is unlikely to pass before the November midterm elections. Russia has become India's top oil supplier since Western sanctions followed the invasion of Ukraine, though India's oil imports from Russia eased slightly in August from July's record high.
