Aramco's Jizan refinery hit again as its shipments remain sharply lower since the previous strike
8 September 2026 · last month
Saudi Aramco's 400,000 barrel per day Jizan refinery was hit in a new attack on Monday, September 7, 2026 (16 Shahrivar 1405). According to Oilprice.com, published Tuesday, September 8 (17 Shahrivar), citing the Financial Times and two people familiar with the incident, the scale of the new strike was comparable to an attack last month that temporarily disrupted the refinery's operations. Aramco has not yet commented on the latest damage, and no group has been confirmed as responsible. The Financial Times reported that shipments from the refinery have fallen sharply since the previous attack, with no exports recorded in August.
Separately, media affiliated with Yemen's Houthi movement claimed a fresh wave of missile and drone strikes also targeted Abha airport and the King Khalid air base in Khamis Mushait, a claim Saudi authorities have not confirmed or denied as of this report. Jizan, on Saudi Arabia's Red Sea coast, has become one of the kingdom's alternative oil export routes since traffic through the Strait of Hormuz was disrupted.
