Saudi shipping group Bahri's first-half 2026 profit jumps 421% to $1.3 billion

Bahri, Saudi Arabia's national maritime carrier, reported a net profit of SR4.89 billion, about $1.3 billion, for the six months ending 30 June 2026, up 420.7% from the same period a year earlier. The results were reported by Arab News on Wednesday, 29 July 2026 (7 Mordad 1405). Saudi Logistics Services, known as SAL, also posted double digit earnings growth in the same report.
Bahri's profit jump is a direct reflection of how much more expensive shipping in the region has become. As the risk of transiting the Strait of Hormuz and the Red Sea has intensified, tanker freight rates and war risk insurance premiums have risen sharply in recent months, and fleet owners and operators have benefited.
The figure is one of the clearest market gauges of the cost the current crisis has imposed on the region's energy supply chain, a cost that on the other side of the equation has turned into revenue for shipping companies.
