The Central Bank of Iran's consumer price index report for Tir 1405, published on Tuesday 6 Mordad 1405 (28 July 2026), shows the headline CPI reaching 742.8 points. Monthly inflation was recorded at 3.6 percent, year on year inflation at 83.9 percent and annual (twelve month) inflation at 61.4 percent.
The most significant shift in the Tir report is in the composition of inflation. Monthly inflation for services came in at 5.1 percent against 2.6 percent for goods, the first time since Mordad 1404 that services have risen faster than goods month on month. That means price pressure has moved from the goods basket into costs such as healthcare, education, transport and rent, a category of inflation that is typically more persistent than goods inflation.
Among the groups, housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels posted the largest monthly rise at 5.9 percent. Tobacco, at minus 0.5 percent, was the only group with negative monthly inflation in Tir 1405, the first negative monthly reading for any group since Tir 1404. Tobacco carries a low weight in the headline index, while the housing and energy group carries the highest.
