According to a report published by Ecoiran on Thursday, 15 Mordad 1405 (August 6, 2026), the latest data from Iran's Shaparak electronic payment network show household purchasing power has not recovered to pre-conflict levels even after fighting subsided. The average real value per purchase transaction, expressed in Khordad 1405 (June 2026) prices, was about 737,000 tomans in Esfand 1404 (February-March 2026) and fell to 645,000 tomans in Farvardin 1405 (March-April 2026), the lowest level recorded in recent years, the report said.
Ecoiran said the decline shows households are not only buying less but spending less per purchase, a pattern typically seen when real incomes are under pressure and consumption shifts toward essential goods. The data showed the real value per transaction in Tehran province rose about 20% in Khordad this year compared with the same month last year, while it continued to decline in eight other provinces.
