Iran's Revolutionary Guard said on Thursday, 23 July, that an explosion set a tanker ablaze in the Strait of Hormuz after it tried to navigate the southern route off the coast of Oman, and that two other vessels immediately turned back. The incident came on the twelfth consecutive night of US strikes on Iran.
US Central Command said at 02:30 GMT on Thursday that it had concluded its latest round of strikes on Iran. Iran carried out retaliatory strikes on targets around the Gulf. With the Houthi naval blockade continuing, shipping disruption now extends to the Bab al-Mandeb strait in addition to Hormuz.
