Tehran power utility: rolling blackouts in the capital to begin Wednesday, July 15
14 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Tehran's Electricity Distribution Company announced that, because of a significant rise in temperature and a considerable increase in power consumption in the capital, restrictions and rolling blackouts will begin in Tehran from Wednesday, July 15, 2026.
The decision comes as a summer heatwave adds to strain on the national grid. Earlier, consumption limits had already been imposed on energy intensive industries, putting pressure on sectors such as steel and cement.
