The Tehran Province Meteorological Office has issued a yellow level alert, announcing that an intermittent rain system will begin over the province from the afternoon of Sunday 2 August 2026 (11 Mordad 1405) and continue until the end of Tuesday 4 August (13 Mordad). Rain, temporary strong winds, showers and thunderstorms are forecast during that window.
According to the announcement, skies over Tehran on Sunday will be partly to half cloudy, with wind speeds picking up in the afternoon and a chance of strong gusts. Temperatures that day are expected between 26 and 36 degrees Celsius. For Monday 3 August (12 Mordad), increasing cloud, scattered rain and possible strong winds are forecast in the evening hours.
In the province's higher and mountainous areas there is a chance of fog, strong to very strong winds, hail and lightning. The northern parts of Tehran province, including Firuzkuh, Damavand, Abali, Meygun, Pardis, Lavasan and Shemiranat, will be most affected. The office advised residents to avoid mountaineering and climbing while the system is active, and told executive and relief agencies to be prepared.
