The IRGC claims responsibility for Thursday morning's attack on the Ali Al Salem air base in Kuwait

The public relations office of Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said in statement number 56 on Operation Nasr 2, issued on Thursday, 30 July 2026 (8 Mordad 1405), that in an attack that morning on the US air base at Ali Al Salem in Kuwait, two drone hangars and a fuel tank for military aircraft and helicopters were set alight and destroyed. The statement was republished by Eghtesad Online.
The statement presents the attack as a continuation of the operation the IRGC calls Nasr 2. As of the publication of this summary, no independent assessment of the damage to the base had been released, and Kuwaiti or US officials had not confirmed the details set out in the statement.
Earlier the same day, Kuwait's military said a strike on a Chinese company's building in the north of the country had killed a worker, and Qatar and Saudi Arabia condemned the attacks on US bases in Jordan and Kuwait. For markets, any widening of the conflict onto the territory of Persian Gulf states feeds directly into the risk premium in oil prices and into insurance rates for the region's seaborne cargoes.
