The UAE-Russia Trade in Services and Investment Agreement Enters Into Force
24 August 2026 | 2 months ago
According to The National, the UAE Ministry of Foreign Trade said the UAE-Russia Trade in Services and Investment Agreement (Tisia) officially entered into force on Sunday, 23 August 2026 (1 Shahrivar 1405). The agreement was signed a year earlier, on 8 August 2025, during Sheikh Mohamed's visit to Moscow, and targets sectors including fintech, healthcare, transport, logistics and professional services.
According to the report, non oil bilateral trade between the UAE and Russia reached 20.4 billion dollars in the prior year, up 77.7 percent. The UAE now has 18 comprehensive economic partnership agreements in force out of 38 concluded since 2021.
The story matters to Iranian readers because of its timing: the agreement takes effect four days after the UAE suspended all trade and financial relations with Iran on 19 August. Abu Dhabi is deepening its economic integration with Moscow at the same time as it cuts off Tehran, which is relevant to anyone tracking how the region's trade and remittance flows are being rerouted.
