Trump Renews Threat to Seize Kharg Island, Says US Already Struck Part of It
10 July 2026 | 3 months ago
President Trump on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, again threatened that the US could "take" Kharg Island, the terminal handling roughly 90% of Iran's crude oil exports. Per NBC News, Trump told reporters: "We attacked Kharg Island last night. We knocked out a piece. I said, don't touch the oil, because maybe we'll take over Kharg Island, and we may take over Kharg Island, and there's not a thing they can do about it." The threat, first floated in a Truth Social post in June 2026, is now being repeated alongside actual strikes. Analysts warn any disruption at Kharg would have an outsized direct effect on global oil supply and Iran's export revenue.
