Turkish Energy Minister Alparslan Bayraktar said in an interview with Channel 7, as reported by Reuters and relayed by Mehr on Monday, October 19, 2026, that Turkey will import part of the diesel Russia is set to supply to world markets under its deal with the United States. He said Russia had restricted diesel exports in recent months amid energy shortages and has now agreed terms with Donald Trump on supply. The minister gave no volume or delivery timetable. He added that Turkey relies on Russia, Iran, Azerbaijan and others for energy and is seeking to diversify through contracts with the United States and other partners. The news matters for the regional fuel market because hopes of Russian diesel supply were among the factors weighing on oil prices last week.
