British retail sales volumes rose 1.0% month on month in June 2026, against economists' average expectation of a 0.3% fall in a Reuters poll. The Office for National Statistics released the data on Friday, 24 July 2026.
Compared with a year earlier, sales volumes were 4.2% higher, above the market's expectation of a 2.3% rise. Warm summer weather lifted demand for seasonal goods and accounted for part of the gain.
