The administration of US President Donald Trump, at a White House crypto summit attended by senior executives from Coinbase, Ripple, Kraken and Chainlink on the evening of Wednesday, August 19, 2026 (28 Mordad 1405), said it is examining the best structure for expanding the US strategic Bitcoin reserve beyond simply holding seized assets. According to Arzdigital, the US government currently holds about 323,693 bitcoins worth roughly $21.2 billion.
At the same meeting, Trump called on Congress to pass a fair version of the CLARITY Act, which would set the regulatory framework for the crypto market; the bill's final Senate vote is scheduled for September 15 and requires 60 votes to pass. Trump also said the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is preparing a path for exchange Hyperliquid to enter the US market, an announcement that sent the HYPE token up 15 percent to about $69.
