US stock futures moved higher on Monday, 27 July 2026 (5 Mordad 1405). According to Trading Economics, the driver was a sharp fall in oil prices after the United States refrained from attacking Iran over the weekend and Tehran suspended its retaliatory strikes. The pause followed nearly two weeks of escalating conflict.
Markets remain cautious nonetheless. Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen have claimed attacks on Saudi Arabian facilities along the Red Sea, keeping alive the risk of renewed supply disruption. Investors are also preparing for a busy week of corporate earnings and the Federal Reserve's upcoming policy meeting. The Dow Jones index had closed Friday, 24 July, at 51,947 points, up 236 points or 0.46 percent.
Asian markets also opened higher on Monday. According to CNBC, Japan's Nikkei 225 added 0.24 percent, the Topix rose 0.60 percent, South Korea's Kospi advanced 0.44 percent and Australia's S&P/ASX 200 was up 0.97 percent. For Iran's market, a return of risk appetite in global markets usually goes together with the war-risk premium receding from oil and gold prices, the same variables that shape domestic currency and inflation expectations.
