US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner met President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Saturday, in talks that lasted more than three hours, Al Jazeera reported citing Reuters. Kremlin aide Yuri Ushakov described the talks as highly useful and substantive, very frank and constructive, saying the two US envoys outlined ideas on possible avenues for a settlement of the Russia Ukraine war, without giving further detail. Trump had earlier said his envoys were carrying a proposal to end the war.
After the meeting, Witkoff and Kushner headed to Kyiv for their first meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy; it was their eighth trip to Moscow since the war began. Moscow and Kyiv separately announced a three day halt on strikes against each other's capitals to coincide with the visit, running until Monday.
