Witkoff Says Latest Round of Talks With Iran Ended Successfully, Trump Calls It Very Constructive

According to IRNA, citing Al Jazeera, in a report published Tuesday, 1 Mehr 1405 (September 23, 2026), US special envoy Steve Witkoff said mediators had successfully concluded a fresh round of talks with the Iranian delegation and voiced hope the talks would be constructive and promising. He said the mediators would continue working between the two sides in the coming days.

Per the same report, US President Donald Trump said Tuesday night, in a meeting with Arab and Islamic leaders, that Witkoff and Jared Kushner had held a very constructive meeting with Iran's mediators that day, adding that conditions were such that the two sides could reach a deal. Arab media had earlier reported that Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi presented Iran's proposals to mediators on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly session in New York.
