Transcript
This week the dollar hit a fresh record, and a lot of household cash savings quietly lost their value. The week just past, the ceasefire collapsed and the naval blockade of Iranian ports returned. On Wednesday the free-market dollar jumped to a record hundred eighty-eight thousand two hundred tomans. The Exchange Center rate stayed near a hundred fifty thousand tomans, about twenty-five percent below the open market. The dollar is now roughly double its level a year ago. Eighteen-karat gold hit eighteen point four million tomans a gram; the Emami coin, a hundred eighty-four million. The Emami coin premium leapt about twenty-five percent in a single day, a flight into physical assets. But the Tehran bourse stayed red all week; the main index closed near four point eight nine million. At Tuesday's close, about three thousand two hundred seventy-five billion tomans of real money left the bourse. Globally, Bitcoin traded near sixty-four thousand dollars and domestic Tether near a hundred eighty-eight thousand. Spot gold slipped to around four thousand fifty dollars, but Brent held near eighty-five. The week's key point: the world prices this conflict as short, the home market prices the opposite. Around Iran, the Turkish lira and Chinese yuan were calm; oil and global gold are the real channel. In steel, size-ten ribbed rebar traded near sixty-six thousand tomans per kilogram. Cars and building materials mostly tracked the record dollar and energy costs. On Thursday morning, all eyes are on the mediation talks in Doha. Next week, watch the talks, the next gold auction, and the bourse on Saturday. Full analysis on Sahmino dot com. Will the dollar hold above a hundred ninety thousand this summer, or fall back?
