Tehran rents have risen 70 to 100 percent this moving season despite a legal rent cap, automatic lease renewal and housing deposit loans. A fresh Parliament Research Center review of Article 7 of Iran's 2024 land, housing and rent market law says the cap has no renewal mandate behind it and covers only 98 of the country's 933 cities (Khabar Online, Saturday, August 8, 2026).
