13 stock-exchange industries hit record highs in Tuesday's trading, with pharmaceuticals leading the annual gain

The average index of Tehran Stock Exchange's 24 industry groups rose 0.54 percent in Tuesday's trading, August 18, 2026 (27 Mordad 1405), with 13 industries closing at record highs. According to Bourse News, the chemical products industry posted the day's biggest gain, up 4.77 percent to 437,246 points, and is up 24 percent since the start of the Iranian year. The pharmaceuticals industry rose 3.08 percent to a record 664,360 points and leads all industries with a 166 percent gain since the start of the year. Agriculture (up 147 percent) and technical and engineering (up 141 percent) followed as the next-biggest year-to-date gainers.

On the other side, three industries, sugar (down 1.84 percent), rubber and plastics (down 1.82 percent) and cement (down 1.56 percent), posted the day's biggest declines, though all three remain up between 21 and 74 percent since the start of the year.
