Mehdi Zoghi, manager of the Imam Khomeini Airport City free zone, said on Saturday 1 August 2026 that a commercial duty discount of up to 15 percent is now in force for commercial goods brought into the zone. He said the arrangement has been running since the start of the current Iranian year, in cooperation with the secretariat of the Supreme Council of Free Zones and the relevant ministry.
He added that, following enquiries with the legal department of the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Finance, the discount also covers strategic goods including cars and mobile phones.
Zoghi said the zone, as the only free zone serving the capital, has been able to cut the landed cost for traders and businesses compared with mainland customs offices by using the legal tools available to it, such as tax exemptions, warehousing discounts and the reduction in commercial duty.
