A roadside bomb blocks the Zahedan to Khash transit route in south-east Iran
26 July 2026 | 3 months ago
A roadside bomb detonated on the afternoon of Sunday 26 July 2026 (4 Mordad 1405) on the Zahedan to Khash road in Sistan and Baluchestan province, destroying a large section of asphalt and blocking the route. Published images show a large crater in the road surface.
The Mehr news agency attributed the sabotage to an armed anti-government group. No casualties have been reported so far, and no date has been given for the road's full reopening.
The Zahedan to Khash road is part of the road network in Iran's south-east leading toward the eastern borders, and disruption there affects freight movement and transit traffic in the region. The incident comes as the government works to rebuild transport infrastructure damaged in the south of the country.
