Iran's inspection chief announces a special judicial panel for foreign-currency corruption cases
26 July 2026 · 3 months ago
Zabihollah Khodaian, head of Iran's General Inspection Organisation, said on Sunday 26 July 2026 (4 Mordad 1405) that a special judicial panel has been formed to handle foreign-currency corruption cases on an expedited basis, and warned those who have breached their FX obligations.
Earlier the same day he said the central bank is responsible for managing the FX system and should not shirk that responsibility, adding that part of the country's currency problems stem from the bank's shortcomings. The Inspection Organisation also said on Sunday that of roughly 28 billion euros of reviewed FX obligations, close to 26 billion euros have now been settled.
Exporters' FX obligations are one of the main sources of foreign-currency supply in Iran's domestic market. The judicial move comes as the same issue is due to be discussed at parliament's industries committee on Monday 27 July (5 Mordad).
