A special oversight group is set up to speed the rebuilding of damaged South Pars gas refineries
31 July 2026 | 3 months ago
According to an Oil Ministry report published by Mehr News Agency on Thursday 30 July 2026, a special headquarters oversight working group for the reconstruction of the National Iranian Gas Company's damaged refineries has been formed with senior gas industry managers and officials and has begun work.
The report says group members visited the debris clearance and rebuilding work at the damaged refineries of the South Pars gas complex, and in meetings with refinery managers, project executors and technical and engineering teams reviewed ways to speed the return of units to production. The group's stated duties include cross-sector coordination, enabling early operation of process units at each refinery, passing execution problems to the National Iranian Gas Company's reconstruction executive group, and reporting proposed solutions to senior management.
The report gives no timetable and no figure for capacity restored so far. The South Pars gas complex supplies the bulk of Iran's consumed gas and industrial feedstock, so the pace of its reconstruction bears on the country's gas balance in the cold season.
