American Airlines flights grounded nationwide after an IT outage, then resume
29 July 2026 | 3 months ago
The US Federal Aviation Administration issued a ground stop for all American Airlines flights on the evening of Tuesday 28 July 2026. The order followed a systemwide outage in the carrier's information technology systems and covered its flights at every airport.
Aircraft already in the air were not affected by the advisory. American Airlines said a technology issue had briefly disrupted connectivity for some of its systems.
The ground stop was lifted about an hour after the first disruptions were reported, and the airline said its systems were coming back online and flights were departing again.
