The deputy for crop affairs at Iran's Ministry of Agriculture Jihad said in the early hours of Wednesday 29 July 2026 that a further 50,000 billion tomans of wheat growers' arrears will be paid over the coming days. The announcement followed a presidential order to speed up settlement of those arrears.
Guaranteed wheat purchases this year have passed 7 million tonnes, according to the agriculture minister on Tuesday 28 July 2026. Paying growers for that crop is one of the heavier items among the government's current obligations.
