First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref told a board meeting of the Assembly of Former Ministers that, as a result of the government's gasoline policy, the country will not import gasoline this year and the savings will go to paying subsidies and funding the kalabarg credit. According to Khabaronline, citing the first vice president's information site, on Thursday, 15 October 2026 (23 Mehr 1405), Aref added that the government was able to carry out its gasoline decisions by building consensus within the system and persuading the public, even though some had argued that gasoline prices should not be raised given the country's circumstances.

The first vice president's statement is an estimate for the current year, not a report of an entire year without imports. The report gives neither a savings figure nor a timetable for transferring funds to the kalabarg, so the effect on household credits is not yet clear. Aref framed the move as part of the government's policy to support household livelihoods.
