Azerbaijan Finalizes Gas Supply Agreement With Georgia by Presidential Decree
11 July 2026 | 3 months ago
Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev signed a decree in July 2026 (Tir 1405) giving final approval to the Azerbaijan-Georgia natural gas supply agreement, originally signed in Baku on May 18, 2026 (28 Ordibehesht 1405). The decree instructs Azerbaijan's economy and foreign ministries to complete the procedures needed for the agreement to take effect. The deal is part of a broader 20-year gas agreement and energy/transit infrastructure push between the two countries, reinforcing the "Middle Corridor" that competes with traditional transit routes including those through Iran.
