Bitcoin Shows Muted Reaction to US Iran Escalation, Stays August's Top Performer
31 August 2026 · last month
According to a CoinDesk report by Omkar Godbole published on the morning of Monday, 9 Shahrivar 1405 (August 31, 2026), bitcoin showed a relatively muted reaction to the US strike on Larak Island and the IRGC's retaliatory missile strikes on US bases in Jordan, even as oil prices rose and US stock indexes fell in response. The report said bitcoin remains August's best performing asset despite the escalation.
Per Sahmino's own recorded data, bitcoin was trading at 77,473 dollars at 08:00 on Monday morning, down 1.85 percent (1,433 dollars), a far smaller move than the more than 2 percent jump in global oil prices attributed to the same developments earlier the same day.
The crypto market's comparatively muted response stands in contrast to sharper swings in traditional markets, suggesting investors in the asset, at least so far, are not pricing the escalation between Iran and the United States as a systemic risk to bitcoin.
