Cabinet Strips Central Bank of Two Powers Over Online Gold Platforms: Licence Approval and Trading Hours
Sahmino Newsroom | 24 October 2026 | 9 days ago
ArzDigital, citing Tejarat News, reported on Saturday, October 24, 2026 (2 Aban 1405), that Iran's Council of Ministers amended the executive directive on online gold and silver trading and removed two powers of the central bank. Platforms previously needed central bank approval to obtain, renew or cancel a licence; that requirement has been dropped. The article that set platform operating hours under central bank rules has also been deleted, and the amendment names no replacement authority.
ArzDigital added that a Fars reporter says the central bank does not wish to keep supervising these platforms and plans, once a monitoring system is launched, to hand responsibility to a working group of 10 executive bodies. Last Mehr (1404), the then central bank governor had opposed round-the-clock operation of the platforms. The report does not give the date on which the amendment was issued.
