The Central Bank of Iran announced on Saturday, August 22, 2026, that the Ministry of Petroleum deposited 7.5 billion dollars in oil-sale revenue into its account. According to Ecoiran, the sum, together with revenue from the period before the latest escalation in sanctions, could help cover part of the foreign-currency needs for importing essential goods. The announcement came the same day Hemmati had said Iran's oil revenue had stopped and a large share of the country's foreign reserves were inaccessible.
