Tehran's Free Market Dollar Reaches 192,400 Tomans, Up 3 Percent in a Week

According to the TGJU gold and currency information network, updated Saturday afternoon, August 22, 2026 (31 Mordad 1405), the US dollar on Tehran's free market reached 1,924,050 rials (192,405 tomans), up about 30,050 rials (1.6 percent) from yesterday's 1,894,000 rials. Today's session high was 1,924,200 rials and its low was 1,898,800 rials.

The dollar is up about 3.1 percent from a week earlier (Sunday, August 16, at 1,866,800 rials) and about 8.4 percent from three months ago (May 23, at 1,774,200 rials). It remains about 1 percent below its all time high of 1,945,000 rials, set on July 18, 2026. According to EcoIran, the same rate stood at 191,270 tomans at 12:13pm Tehran time today, reflecting a steady rise through the session.
