Dollar Hits 200,000 Tomans in Today's Trading, Up 7 Percent in a Week

The US dollar in Tehran's free market crossed the 200,000 toman threshold for the first time on Sunday, Shahrivar 1, 1405 (August 23, 2026). According to Ecoiran, the jump was recorded mid session, around 15:50 local time. Data from the TGJU price index showed the dollar at 199,700 tomans as of 19:30 Tehran time, with an intraday high of 200,720 tomans, up 7,000 tomans (3.7 percent) from the previous day. Alanchand.com quoted a 200,300 toman sell rate at the same time. TGJU data put the weekly gain at 7.07 percent and the year on year increase at 108.45 percent. As of Sunday morning, the dollar had been trading around 188,000 tomans.
