The Central Bank of Iran issued a statement on Sunday, 27 September 2026 (5 Mehr 1405) responding to a letter published by an online gold trading platform about "removing barriers to accessing assets and releasing gold held in bank vaults," which had been recirculated on social media.

The central bank said that, contrary to claims made on some channels, the letter contained no name, direct request or claim addressed to the central bank, and that attributing it to the bank was "false" and aimed at misleading public opinion. The bank gave no details on whether that platform's users can access their holdings.
