A Firmer Dollar Lifts the Emami Coin and 18-Karat Gold

Tehran's gold and coin market rose on Sunday, 27 September 2026 (5 Mehr 1405). According to Mehr News Agency, the new-design Emami coin gained 1.391 million tomans on the previous day's average to reach 239.4 million tomans, and a gram of 18-karat gold traded at 23,883,900 tomans. The old-design coin was priced at 235.1 million tomans, the half coin at 122.9 million and the quarter coin at 65.1 million, while the Tehran mazneh (the benchmark for melted gold) reached 103.46 million tomans.

The main driver was a rise of about 2,000 tomans in the free-market dollar, which traded around 235,000 tomans; the global gold price held near $4,285 an ounce because international markets were closed for the weekend. Donya-e-Eqtesad also reported the Emami coin at 239.1 million tomans at midday. The gains came a day after gold and coin prices slipped on Saturday, 4 Mehr.
