China's exports jump 23.9% in July, trade surplus hits $112.5 billion

8 August 2026 | 2 months ago

China's exports rose 23.9% year on year in July 2026, marking a second straight month of growth above 20%, according to General Administration of Customs data reflected by Donya-e-Eqtesad newspaper on Friday, August 7, 2026 (16 Mordad 1405). Imports grew 27.5% in the same month, pushing China's trade surplus to $112.5 billion.

Bloomberg reported that China's chip exports jumped 117% year on year in July and computer exports rose 67%, while car exports grew 60% and shipbuilding exports 92%. China's trade surplus with the European Union hit a fresh record of $33.8 billion in July. Barclays analysts attributed the export strength mainly to the global wave of investment in artificial intelligence and green technology, even though Typhoon Bawi, the region's most powerful storm in eight decades to hit Zhejiang province, had temporarily halted operations at some of the country's busiest ports.
