China's Factory Gate Prices Hit 4 Year High in June, Rising 4.1% Amid West Asia Tensions
11 July 2026 | 3 months ago
China's producer price index (PPI) rose 4.1 percent year on year in June 2026, its highest reading since July 2022, according to South China Morning Post, reporting July 9, 2026 on official National Bureau of Statistics data. It marked the fourth straight monthly rise, up from 3.9 percent in May. Higher coal, metals and energy prices, linked to ongoing West Asia tensions and the Iran war, were cited as the main drivers. On a monthly basis, however, PPI fell 0.3 percent in June following a brief drop in global oil prices after an earlier US Iran ceasefire.
