13 August 2026 | 2 months ago

The US Bureau of Labor Statistics said on Thursday, August 13, 2026 (22 Mordad 1405), that producer price inflation (PPI) rose 4.7 percent year on year in July, down from 5.5 percent in June and below market expectations, with no increase on a monthly basis. Core producer inflation, which excludes food and energy, rose 4.2 percent annually and 0.2 percent monthly. The report followed encouraging US consumer inflation data released a day earlier and renewed investor hopes that price pressures are easing. The S&P 500 rose 0.5 percent to 7,788 and the Nasdaq gained 0.8 percent to 29,990, while the two year Treasury yield fell 36 basis points to 4.140 percent. Sahmino's own pricing data showed spot gold slipping nearly 1 percent to about 4,369 dollars an ounce and silver easing a similar amount to about 64.7 dollars an ounce.
